Affirming means more than just accepting.

There's a difference between a therapist who won't judge you for being LGBTQ+ and one who genuinely understands and affirms the fullness of your identity. I aim to be the latter. Your queerness, your gender identity, your relationships — these are not complications in our work. They are central to understanding who you are.

I bring an intersectional lens to my practice. For LGBTQ+ women who are also Black, women of color, older, disabled, or navigating multiple marginalized identities simultaneously, I understand that the layers matter — and I'll never ask you to leave any part of yourself at the door.

What LGBTQ+ women often bring to therapy:

  • Coming out — at any age, in any context, to any audience
  • Family rejection or complicated family relationships
  • Navigating LGBTQ+ identity in religious communities or conservative environments
  • Internalized homophobia or transphobia
  • Relationship challenges unique to queer partnerships
  • Grief and loss within LGBTQ+ communities
  • Workplace discrimination and the emotional toll of navigating bias
  • Anxiety, depression, and trauma — which affect LGBTQ+ women at higher rates
  • Identity exploration — figuring out who you are and what you want
  • The particular loneliness of feeling like you don't fully belong anywhere

Your identity is not the problem to be solved

My work with LGBTQ+ clients is not about helping you "cope" with who you are. It is about building a life that honors who you are — fully, freely, and on your own terms. Whatever challenges you're facing, we work toward them together without your identity being treated as a variable to manage.

Virtual LGBTQ+ affirming therapy in Virginia and Washington State

For many LGBTQ+ clients, the ability to access therapy virtually — from the safety of home — removes significant barriers. You don't have to be visible in a waiting room. You don't have to out yourself to reach out for help. I see clients across Virginia and Washington State.

You deserve a therapist who gets it — all of it.
